On a recent trip back to London, I was reminded of how rapid the pace of life in cities is. It’s always exciting to return to old ground, but I felt thankful that I am now embracing a slower, more considered pace of life here on the coast.
This morning the sun made an appearance in Mevagissey, and I wandered along the harbour wall clasping my favourite tin mug full of aromatic coffee, taking time to pause in the spring sunshine before opening the shop.
During my time working in the fast lane, people always told me to remember to breathe. I never fully understood what they meant until I embraced a gentler way of life and made time for me. It’s easy to miss things when you are rushing about, life really does slip past very quickly. Since moving to Cornwall, I have learned how to breathe again.
