These words were a message for my father, aggressively, but lovingly and encouragingly, written in red pen on a pale yellow Post-it Note by my mother, and stuck to a mirror in the hallway of our farmhouse in Wales when I was growing up. It remained there for years, always stuck in my mind, and propelled me forwards.
After 17 years working for other people, I finally found the confidence to stop thinking about running my own business, and I took the plunge, acting upon those thoughts, and turning my dreams into a reality.
For anyone thinking about doing the same, yes, it’s scary; and yes, it’s a risk; yes it’s lonely; and yes, there’s beans-on-toast; but I thoroughly recommend it. You never know until you try, and you never know what you can achieve until you challenge yourself. Take pride in what you do, and believe in yourself and your dreams.
